Who Does She Think She Is?
Although I am not yet a mother, as a woman, I can identify with the struggles and challenges that these artists are dealing with. It’s so easy to succumb to the pressure of giving up your dreams for the sake of your family or profession. The choices that women are forced to make today about how to balance motherhood, work, and personal pursuits are a striking reminder that while we have come a long way towards equality, we still have a long way to go.
I love the diversity of women in this trailer–I feel like I can see myself reflected in the many stories of women from around the country and the world. I’m really excited to attend the screening of this film on October 23, sponsored by Nurture PDX. Nurture is a collective of alternative wellness practitioners who promote growing families and community. Their professional members include doulas, midwives, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and more. I’m in the process of joining their community, and I look forward to sharing with you some of the offerings that I will be putting together this fall!
