Labor Doula Package
Initial consultation
This 45 minute meeting will be a chance for us to get to know each other and explore how Cascadia Birth Services might be able to support you and your birth team. At the end of the meeting, we’ll leave you with a contract to discuss and sign. Generally, we are able to hold the space around your estimated due date for about a week after your consultation before opening it up for other prospective clients.
1-3 prenatal visits
During these visits you will meet with your doula and her back up, review your goals and needs surrounding your pregnancy and birth, practice any positions and comfort measures that you would like to use during labor, and discuss your plan for postpartum support. The number of visits will depend on your individual needs and the time we have available before the birth.
24/7 on-call support prior to your birth
Starting at 38 weeks, we are on-call for you 24/7. You can contact us at any time, day or night, to answer questions, or just give support during these last weeks of pregnancy. We’ll be in touch with you as you make the decision to go in to the hospital or birth center and will be available to join you within an hour and a half after you call us for birth support.
Continuous support during labor and birth
Your doula and/or your backup doula will stay with you from the time you call us to come to your home or the hospital until the first hour or so after birth to make sure you and your partner are settled in, have had a shower, and attempted breastfeeding if that is in your birth plan. If there are medical complications, we can stay longer to ensure that you and your partner have the full support you need.
4 hours of postpartum care
About a week after your birth, your doula will come to your home with a homemade meal and a special gift bag to welcome your newborn. We will check in, make sure breastfeeding is going well, answer any infant care questions you may have, and listen to you and your partner’s birth story. In addition to this shorter visit, we also include four hours of postpartum care for all our labor doula clients, which you can schedule at your convenience.
If at this time you would like to consider continued postpartum doula services, we can discuss those options as well.
Fees
The doulas on our team each charge sliding scales, which will be covered in our initial consultations.
