Adoption doulas
Cascadia Birth Services supports the formation of families through adoption as well as birth, and has developed a network of resources to support clients who may be considering placing a child for adoption. Pregnancy and birth are often intense and challenging experiences for everyone, and for birth parents, additional emotional challenges can arise. As a trans-racial/trans-national adoptee, Lena is particularly interested in working with parents who are considering placing their babies for adoption.
For Parents Considering Placement for Adoption
We recognize the unique emotional and physical needs of parents during and after labor and we are especially committed to supporting parents considering relinquishment as they advocate for their needs during this process. As your doula, we work just for you, and we are not affiliated with an agency or with the adoptive family. Our support is non-judgmental and we are comfortable working with clients who may still be undecided.
Birth parent doula services:
All the regular labor doula services plus:
- breastfeeding support for the birth mother
- coordination of transportation of breast milk to the adoptive family
- comfort measures for those who decide not to breastfeed or are unable to do so
- resources for support groups
